Why You Should Drink More Yogurt: The Benefits

WHY YOU SHOULD DRINK MORE YOGURT: THE BENEFITS

Hmmmn! Did I hear you smack your lips and shout yummy! Yeah, yogurt is it! Made mainly from the fermented milk of animals such as cows, goats and camels, yogurt is far more beneficial than you think.

To start with, it is much more nutritious than your ordinary milk. By taking yogurt, you get the added dose and adequate punch of proteins, minerals (like potassium and calcium which is needed for proper bone growth and development) and vitamins (particularly vitamins B6 and B12).

However, the nutritional content of yogurt is not the only advantage that comes with it. All over the globe, there are millions of people who cannot drink ordinary milk because of a condition that is referred to as lactose intolerance. For such people, yogurt is the ideal substitute for them. And this is due to the fact that the lactose (milk sugar) has been metabolized to glucose and galactose which can then be easily consumed without the discomforting effects of lactose intolerance. This conversion occurs as a result of the process of fermentation.

In addition, if you are the obese type or you are just struggling to lose weight or maintain your shape, taking yogurt that is low in fat is very good for you. The calcium component in yogurt has been shown to help in weight loss.
Yogurt is also a good booster for your immune system. It contains lactobacillus which assists in the uptake of nutrients in the digestive system and plays an important overall function in the defence of the body.

And for those who want a smooth, supple, evenly-toned and young-looking skin, yogurt is it. It has vitamins that helps maintain the skin and clears off dead skin cells (no more acne!) and other similar skin conditions. In addition to consuming it, you can use it as a facial mask. Adding honey or aloe vera will be superb. So, what are you waiting for? Get a jar and gurgle -or rub! :)

NB: The fresher the yogurt, the better.
