President Goodluck Jonathan, Nigeria's Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces in Full Military Regalia.
According to the Nigerian Constitution, there shall be an armed forces for the Federation which shall consist of an army, a navy, an Air Force and such other branches of the armed forces of the Federation as may be established by an Act of the National Assembly. It also states that
(a)the powers of the President as the Commissioner-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federation shall include power to determine the operational use of the armed forces of the Federation and
(b)the powers conferred on the President by subsection (1) of this section shall include power to appoint the Chief of Defence staff, the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief of Naval Staff, the Chief of Air Staff and heads of any other branches of the armed forces of the Federation as may be established by an Act of the National Assembly.
Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is the President and Commander-in-Chief of Nigeria's Armed Forces. The Nigerian military is said to have an active duty personnel in three armed services with a total of about 85,000 troops and 82,000 paramilitary personnel.
The Army is the largest with about 100,000 professional personnel, the Air Force has about 10,000 personnel and the Navy comes in at about 7,000. President Jonathan rules them all! ;)
