What Does General Babangida Have In Common With Angelina Jolie?

WHAT DOES BABANGIDA HAVE IN COMMON WITH ANGELINA JOLIE AND BARACK OBAMA?

Okay, let us start with the riddle: What does Babangida, Barack Obama and Angelina Jolie have in common? General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, Nigeria's former military president and Hollywood supercelebrity, Angelina have both lost loved ones to ovarian cancer. Nigeria's former First Lady, Maryam Babangida died in December 2009 at the age of 61 from ovarian cancer and the same thing with Marcheline Bertrand who is Angelina Jolie's mother and Ann Dunham (Barack Obama's mother)....LOL! What were you thinking before? LMAO!!!

Yeah, we gonna talk about ovarian cancer. Do you have it? Now, before you squeeze your face and say you reject it, why not check out the signs and symptoms below? Thanks for your time!

Angelina Jolie and mother.

Barack Obama and mother, Ann Dunham.
Ovarian cancer: the growth has engulfed the entire ovary.

The ovaries (normally two) are the egg-producing organs in a female. They can be compared to the testes in the male reproductive system. The ovary is also responsible for producing hormones such as oestrogen and progesterone both of which are responsible for pubertal changes, ovulation, menstruation and maturation. An ovary is the size of an almond (see pix).

Almonds: ovaries are about the same size as almonds.

However, as important as the ovaries are, cancers can develop in them and that is usually very devastating. , Ella Grasso (first female elected governor in the USA) is another victim of the malignancy. So as a woman, what are the signs that you must watch out for? Prior to this time, ovarian cancer was very difficult to detect and only came to light when the woman is almost dead but thanks to giant strides in research, we now know the danger signs.

These include:

-Pain in the abdomen or discomfort
-Feeling of a growth or mass in the abdomen
-Bloating
-Disturbing weight loss
-Constipation
-Indigestion
-Lack of appetite
-Back pain
-Difficulty in eating
-Feeling full even after small quantities of food
-General body weakness or tiredness
-Pain in the pelvic region (around your hips)
-Abnormal bleeding through the private part (between periods)
-Painful intercourse
-Frequent urination (or a sudden urge to urinate)
-Nausea and vomitting

Discuss any unusual feeling with your doctor. Do not ignore it.

Please note that breastfeeding a child protects women from some forms of ovarian cancer while childbirth is also very beneficial as it has been observed that women who are mothers have a lower risk of coming down with cancer of the ovaries. However, older women (above 55 especially) are at a higher risk.

This type of cancer is the second most common gynaecologic (female) cancers and yet, it causes much more deaths than any other type of malignancy in women. It killed almost 14,000 women in America alone in 2010 so we cannot sweep it under the carpet.

Its exact cause remains unknown and it still remains the deadliest cancer in women. Be vigilant.

For those who want to know how their ovaries look like, check it out:

The uterine tubes are also called the oviducts, the Fallopian tubes or the salpinges. The infundibulum is the third part of the uterine tube and its function is to find the egg once it has been released by the ovary, you can see how close they are. :)

ALWAYS CHECK YOURSELF AND NOTE THE CHANGES. ENJOY YOUR DAY!
