MARIO BALOTELLI'S MOTHER WORKS AS A CLEANER

Mario Balotelli is black but he is Italian. He has his roots in Ghana but his story is an amazing one. Just 21 years old and one of the richest footballers on the planet, he earns a staggering $188,000 per week, which translates to almost N31 million EVERY WEEK. But the curious thing is that his mother, Rose Barwuah works as a cleaner and earns a meager salary at a car lease firm just a few miles from her son's multimillion-pound mansion.

Mother and son.
Born in Italy, his parents (Thomas and Rose Barwuah) had migrated to Italy in search of greener pasture. While still a young child, he developed very serious problems with his intestines and the family had to seek for help from the local authorities who then recommended that he be put up for adoption since the Barwuahs were just too poor to take proper care of his medical condition.
Rose Barwuah “Mario has been over to see me a few times, but he doesn’t want people to know I’m here. We don’t see each other all the time as he has his life and I have mine.“He’s a private person and it’s still early days.I haven’t even been to watch him play football here yet, but I’m very proud of him. I’m thrilled, overjoyed to be here.”

The Barwuah couple claims that the Balotellis have turned their son against them.

In 1993, at the age of just three, he was adopted by an Italian family, which happened to the wealthy Balotellis. Initially, he stayed with his foster parents on weekdays and visited his biological parents on weekends but with time, the plan was modified and he didn't have to see his real parents anymore.
L'enfant terrible of football...lol!
With time, he became an international football star and his real parents asked for his return but he refused stating that they wanted him back because of his wealth and fame (but seriously, would they have asked for him if he was a beggar or the poorest of the poor?) He knew no one as his mother but Mrs. Balotelli, the Italian.

But the poverty is yet to leave his mother who survives as a cleaner with a car hire firm where she is paid just 6 pounds an hour. Interestingly, the place where she works is not too far from her son's mansion (cost him three million pounds, or over N760 million!)

Mario with his Italian mother, Silvia. He scored two goals against Germany in the Euro 2012 semi finals and dedicated both to her. Hear him:
“At the end of the match I went over to my mother and told her ‘these goals are for you.’
“I waited a long time for this moment, especially because my mother came all the way here [in Poland] and I wanted to make her happy.” Actually, Silvia travelled all the way to Warsaw, Poland to watch him play and boost his morale. Is there another definition to a 'mother'?

With his Bentley Continental GT.
While he cruises around in his gleaming white Bentley Continental GTwhich costs $188,000 or N30.5 million (just what he earns in a week), his mother has to rely on cheap public transport. She has relocated to be closer to him but she says that she is not interested in his wealth but just wants a normal reunion between mother and child. She is now 46 years old and seems to face her cleaning job squarely. What a pity. Hear her:

'Mario has been over to see me a few times. We don't see each other all the time as he has his life and I have mine.'

Now, if you are Mario, what would you do? Is the woman to be blamed for leaving him at just two? Is Balotelli justified for his actions? Who is the true mother: the biological or the one who raises the child? Let's hear your opinion.

  1. If she had not given birth to him, probably there would not have been his adoption. The two mothers should be treated on their own merits. He must accord them their respects. Is it easy to give birth? He might have been dead if she had not abandoned him, she was helpless.. I have no doubt she would have denied him if he had been poor. A mother is a mother.
