The Ugliest Man In Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe is one of the most popular nations in Africa (thanks to their aging President, Robert Mugabe but we are not talking about the strongman of Harare today...lol!). We are taking a look at the 2012 Mr. Ugly Pageant in the country. This year's edition was won by a 38-year-old WILLIAM MASVINU who makes a living by helping people carry loads in the market.

He is now very popular and famous but there is still a lot of roads for him to cross. Hear him:  

"I was expecting to do some adverts and some modeling if I was asked. But I'm still poor, still carrying loads of cabbages onto buses".

But Mr. Masvinu is supremely proud of his gifts and talents...lol! He says: 

"I am ready to show the world my gift," he said. "Being ugly is not a curse. It's a gift God gave me and I'm proud of it. My face makes me special and I am not making any excuses about it."


The competition for the Ugliest Man in Zimbabwe was not an easy one o. He had to beat four other ugly beings in the finals before he won the first prize -which was $100 cash and a night in the hotel with his wife. But poverty will always fall person hand na: he decided to use the cash to buy food instead of cavorting all night long in a posh hotel: 

"It didn't make sense to sleep in a nice hotel on an empty stomach," he said.


For years, his looks made him more of an outcast, even by his own family members:  

"My mother died when I was three and no one wanted to take care of me or send me to school because of my looks," he said.

With his wife, Alice, love is beyond the physical.

As a porter in the market, even though he is now a local celeb, life is still hard for the 38-year-old.

With one of the finalists, the second winner pocketed $50! lol!

He also complains that no one wants to employ him: 


"Whenever employers open the door and see me, they go, "Ahh," and shut it." 

While young, he once herded cattle and said it has not been easy at all for him to get a job. His fans say that it actually looks as if he is crying or in pains when we he is smiling. But his wife, Alice Chabhanga is not really bothered about his looks (that thing called love!). She says that she was attracted to him because of his kind heart (correct!), his optimistic nature and the ability to make her laugh no matter how difficult the condition is. Oh, how so sweet! And he retorts saying: 

"She was the only one who wanted me and she knows she has no competition.''

I can't stop laughing at that o!!! lol!!!
