Dame Patience Jonathan And Turai Yar'adua Land Controversy

One is the immediate former First Lady of the Nation while the other currently occupies the 'seat'. Well, for a while now, both have locked horns over a piece of land in the FCT. The land is 1.84 hectares in size and they even dragged themselves to court over it.

After a High Court sitting in Bwari Area Council of the FCT ordered both of them were told to report back to court, the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), who also doubles as the Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke announced that the government has made an arrangement for the case to be settled out of court.

Her Royal Highness, Dame Patience Jonathan holds the tape for the former 'queen' and First Lady, Her Majesty, Hajia Tu'rai Yaradua. How time flies. Her husband died suddenly in power and she had to vacate Aso Rock when she least expected.

Well, this land that they are at each other's throats for is Plot No. 1347, Cadastral Zone AOO, Central Business District (CBD) in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory and was initially given to the Women and Youth Empowerment Foundation (WAYEF) during the 'reign' of 'Her Majesty' Turai Yar'adua the First...lol!

Mourning her late husband and Nigerian President, Hajia Turai is being condoled here by the Dame of Nigeria.
That arrangement stood until November 2011, when the FCT Minister, Bala Mohammed revoked the initial allocation and gave the same piece of land 'Her Royal Highness' Dame Patience Jonathan to build the African First Lady Peace Mission Headquarters.

And they keep entertaining the nation! LOL!
Expectedly, Mrs. Yar'adua got angry and stated that they were trespassing on WAYEF's land and even went ahead to get a court order restraining the defendants in March 2012 (the struggles of a widow :(

In the suit, she joined the FCT Minister, the Federal Capital Administration and the Abuja Geographic Information System (AGIS) as the co-defendants. This is not the first time both parties will agree to settle it out of court but it has not worked so far. The judge has adjourned the case to the 24th of September, 2012.

But why will two Mothers of the Nation fight dirty over a piece of land? Is not earth and all in it the possession of the Almighty? Truly, the greed and the avarice of man have no end. Wish them a nice tussle!

THANK YOU.
