NIGERIAN GOVERNOR'S SON ARRESTED IN MALAYSIA

If feelers reaching Iyaniwura are anything to go by, this is surely going to be a big headache for UMARU TANKO AL-MAKURA, the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State and the only CPC (Congress for Progressive Change) Party governor (General Buhari is also of the CPC, and you know what that means in a politically-charged Nigeria).

The son, named Kali Umar is the son of the state's First Lady, Hajia Salamatu Al Makura (click here for Iyaniwura's special on the 36 First Ladies of Nigeria>>http://betterlife777.blogspot.com/2012/06/nigerias-first-ladies-governors-wives.html) and was once a student at the Nasarawa State University in Keffi, the state capital before his father flew him to the southeast Asian nation of Malaysia for further studies. He studied Social Sciences at NSU, Keffi.

Reports leaking out  that the son has been arrested in Malaysia for possession of hard drugs and gunrunning. Malaysia has one of the strictest anti-drug trafficking laws in the world, and possession of illegal drugs carry a death penalty. Since the child is yet to be proven guilty and news have not been released yet by Malaysian authorities on the case, it is still sketchy.

The governor is said to be working on the case since June 2012 when the son was detained by Malaysian authorities. He was said to have cut short his official visit to the USA to work on his son's case. However, the son is still in detention. When the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Public
Affairs, Hon. Abdulhamid Kwarra was consulted, he refused to comment, saying that 'the matter was family affair' while the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor and other state officials remain tightlipped and refused to say peeem! Igboro ti daru o....!
