The First Lady of Nigeria, Dame Patience Jonathan is a wonderful lady, and she is always doing things of wonder, as in really wonderful things. What a wonderful Lord we serve! LOL! The latest wonderful thing that she has done is to host the Africa First Ladies Summit which has already started yesterday in Abuja. She is hosting her 'fellow' First Ladies from other African countries (see that of Cameroon below).
Well, that one does not even concern me, what I am bothered about is that the Federal Government will spend billions of naira on the event. For example, 200 exotic and posh cars will be used by guests and officials of the African First Ladies Summit, and the FG has even started receiving the cars. Seriously, where on earth does this happen? What is actually wrong with us in Africa? We do things that are really stupid indeed thinking we are impressing others or showing off. 200 new vehicles for a summit that will last just four days? And what will be done there? They will give speeches on the theme: 'The African Woman: A Voice for Peace.' The Dame of Nigeria is the convener of the summit (some people don hammer!)
Some of the cars include 80 units of BMW X3 and X5 series which is sold for N13.5 million each (that's almost $100,000!) while the remaining 120 units will be varying models of Honda, Jaguar and other solid brands. As expected, Coscharis Motors will be the supplier and 180 units have already been delivered to the Presidential Villa (Maduka don hammer again o!)
They have tagged the event '7th African First Ladies for Peace Mission (AFLPM) Summit' from the 24th to the 27th of July. Honestly, I don't know where our leaders (or their wives) are taking us to but it sure looks like the edge of a cliff, and not the summit of a mountain!
Mrs. Chantal Biya, the First Lady of Cameroon is one of the First Ladies expected to grace the event and will be hosted by Dame Jonathan. A half-caste (father is French), she is known for her flashy hairstyle (called banane), there is even a style in Cameroon called the 'Chantal Biya' and she is known for her exotic wardrobe (she is into high-class designers such as Chanel or Dior). Her husband, President Paul Biya, has been the President of Cameroon for the past 30 years. Interesting!
